DeSilva Gates specializes in the rapid delivery of horizontal infrastructure work that includes design consultation, project management and industry-leading quality construction. 

We self-perform excavation, fine grading and paving, and assemble and manage comprehensive and experienced subcontractor teams who perform the installation of underground utilities, concrete work for streets and structures, streetlights, landscaping, and sophisticated geotechnical remedial improvements. 

Our projects include residential, commercial, industrial, and public works such as aviation, levee construction, and roads and highways. We pride ourselves on our ability to understand each client’s needs and vision and finding creative and innovative solutions for any problems that may stand in the way. 

When acting as the CM/GC, DeSilva Gates integrates early in the process in order to participate, collaborate and provide feedback on the project’s design, schedule and budget. This pre-construction and value engineering approach allows us to offer innovative solutions and hold a high level of confidence about the project’s timeline and budget. 

After plans are developed and approved by the project owner, DeSilva Gates manages all subcontractors, contracts, budgets, schedules, and specifications. With a goal to always meet and exceed client expectations, our tenured construction management team skillfully guides the work, ensuring the project owner’s vision becomes reality. 

Civil engineering projects are highly complex endeavors full of challenges. Multiple trades, contractors and vendors must work together to ensure schedules are coordinated, problems are solved, and budgets are met. To succeed, teamwork it is critical. With crews working at 50 or more job sites each day, excavation and grading is at the core of DeSilva Gates Construction’s business. Before any dirt is moved, our in-house engineering department provides earthwork quantity analysis and collaborates with field managers and estimators to develop the optimal sequence of grading to maximize production and to meet the needs of clients’ schedules. 

From small urban site jobs that involve deep basement excavations and off-haul to expansive hillside acreage projects where millions of yards of earth movement is necessary, DeSilva Gates’ in-house team value engineers each job using their vast knowledge and experience while our skilled laborers, operators and management team optimize production safely each step of the way. 

DeSilva Gates has a team of more than 70 people dedicated to asphalt concrete paving. The team of skilled laborers and operators work in tight collaboration with our three asphalt hot plants, quality control engineers, grade control specialists, equipment support, and transportation drivers to deliver a quality product every time. 

Utilizing technology such as 3D imaging, Sonic-Ski sensors and intelligent compaction, we are able to expertly place more than 700,000 tons of asphalt on more than 80 projects per year, including new residential, commercial, airports, highway, and city overlays. 

DeSilva Gates provides continuous on-the-job training for all crew members, and each apprentice receives a mentor to assist them with their skill development. The family atmosphere that exists amongst the dedicated asphalt paving team is made possible by this dedication to constant improvement and the collective goal to provide an excellent project outcome every time. 

DeSilva Gates’ soil management team works on a broad range of excavation projects, including grading, residential basements, mass excavations for multi-story towers, backfill for bay shore reclamation, and more. With access to our dedicated quarries and fill sites throughout the Bay Area, our project managers can quickly, easily and cost-effectively find locations for the import and export of soil. These resources allow us to provide soil remediation services on-site if the need arises. 

Through our affiliated company, Pacific States Environmental Contractors (PSEC), DeSilva Gates has the ability to provide a full spectrum of environmental services to keep clients’ projects moving forward. Together, we offer valuable services including water treatment, soil remediation and mitigation, landfill reconstruction, environmental infrastructure, disaster response, and wetlands restoration. 

PSEC’s relationships with testing labs, remediation designers and governmental regulators coupled with our skilled staff, resources and problem-solving abilities allow DeSilva Gates to find creative, environmentally-sound solutions for even the most technically-demanding projects. 

DeSilva Gates has a vast fleet of company-owned, heavy construction equipment meeting Tier 4 emission standards. This gives our superintendents the capability to perform earthwork, excavation, rock placement, trucking, and paving work in the most efficient manner possible and allowing for flexibility when project needs change.

DeSilva Gates Aggregates’ plant managers run state-of-the-art hot plants in Sunol and Marysville, CA, producing a variety of asphalt products. In addition to asphalt products, our Sunol location also produces sand and gravel, crushed rock, road base, landscape and building materials, and various custom and specialty blends.

As a LEED-certified producer, we are committed to protecting the environment. Our plants produce sustainable, green products such as High-Recycled Asphalt Product and Warm Mix Asphalt, and they are equipped with the latest clean air technology including complex blue smoke capture and filtering systems, low NOx burners, and mist eliminators on the asphalt oil tanks. 

Hauling material is a critical component of infrastructure construction, and DeSilva Gates’ exceptional team of independent trucking brokers, including our affiliate company Double D Trucking, understands the importance of their contribution to every job. Our trucking resources are expertly orchestrated with Zipline, our proprietary mobile app technology. With real-time information available, our team can efficiently and accurately navigate every aspect of the job.

Our modern fleet of Kenworth tractors are safe, clean-burning and utilize lightweight steel trailers with max-ton loading capabilities and safety features like auto tarp systems. Drivers complete an extensive training program and have an excellent understanding of our work and our expectations.
