Located in Alameda, the project was located at the former site of the Alameda Naval Air Station, which opened during World War II and closed in 1997. Since its closure, the U.S. Navy has been cleaning up the old base and returning the property to the City of Alameda for redevelopment. The city awarded the first phase of new infrastructure development to Trammell Crow Residential who then contracted with DeSilva Gates Construction to act as Construction Manager/General Contractor.

There were buildings with supporting infrastructure as well as transportation corridors which needed to remain operational during the construction project.

DeSilva Gates Construction provided the clearing and demolition, geotechnical mitigations/improvement, and installation of public infrastructure for the first 30-acre phase of the Alameda Point Redevelopment Project. Construction of surrounding neighborhood park facilities and a new ferry terminal were also part of DeSilva Gates Construction’s responsibility. In addition, the project included building demolition with waste stream segregation and disposal, site grading, ground improvement, and utility relocation/abandonment. During the entirely of the project, buildings with supporting infrastructure as well as transportation corridors were required to remain operational during construction.
