On the Route 50 Widening Project, DeSilva Gates Construction took advantage of our dedicated and highly skilled project management staff, our extensive and skilled paving resources and our exceptional relationships with our subcontractors, vendors and the California Department of Transportation to successfully complete this complex highway reconstruction project.

A Joint venture between MCM Construction and DGC, the Route 50 Widening Project was on seven miles of one of California’s heaviest-travelled corridors, between Watt Ave. and Sunrise Blvd. in Rancho Cordova, CA. The Project consisted of: median reconstruction from Watt Ave. to Bradshaw Rd. complete with new concrete median barrier; widening of Route 50 from Bradshaw Rd. to Sunrise Blvd.; reconstruction of various on- and off-ramps; replacement of existing PCC pavement (with RSC); dowel bar retrofit of existing PCC pavement; construction of 13 each masonry block sound walls; 5 each CIP retaining walls; 6 each tie-back retaining walls; widening of a bridge over an existing light rail; reconstruction of two pedestrian over crossings; new drainage facilities; electrical facilities; overhead sign structures; and landscaping.

The high volume of traffic on Route 50 along with complex trucking coordination in and out of the project under lane closures were significant obstacles that were overcome. Coordination of the necessary road work along with structural work was also handled expertly during the 260 working days of this project.
